About me

The Real Me

Before we work together on a ceremony, you need to know that I’m the right person for you, so let me give you some more information about me.

It’s a People Thing

Some of the best jobs I’ve had have involved working with and supporting people. In good times and in bad, it’s always a privilege to help out. The great thing about people is that they’re all different and no one person or couple has the same needs. This makes designing ceremonies a really enjoyable challenge. I know I’ve done my job well when a family tell me that the ceremony captured the essence of their love one really well.

Words, words, words

Reading and writing are my life. I love nothing more than curling up with a good thriller and trying to work out ‘who dunnit’ or revisiting old classics. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve read Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.

People fascinate me – I love exploring people’s lives and writing their stories. Happy or sad, long or short, I believe that we all have a story to tell.

Out in the Country

When I’m not working, I can be found exploring the countryside around Shropshire and the Welsh Hills. I especially love walks that combine countryside with history – there’s not better reward for a lung-busting climb than a castle or a monument.

My idea of heaven is combining my love of the countryside with my love of reading. There’s nothing like rambling across the Yorkshire moor, retracing the steps of the Bronte sisters and their heroines.

All for the Love of Cats

Sigmund Freud once said “Time spent with cats is never wasted”. My cats, Liquorice and Fudge, definitely rule the roost and I love spending time with them. Cuddles and love are abundant in our house and a cat’s ability to provide comfort and solace in times of great sadness never ceases to amaze me.

Qualifications and Experience

Based in North Shropshire, I have a degree in Theatre and Media Studies. My work experience has been mostly in conference production, organising events in the UK and abroad and writing, organising and delivering training courses. I have also been lucky enough to work directly with customers in customer service roles.

A Lightbulb Moment

It was whilst organising the funeral for my dad that I realised the benefits of having a dedicated celebrant to help design a very personal funeral service. Our celebrant really helped us to remember and celebrate the good times we had with Dad.

I was intrigued by the role of a celebrant and had a lightbulb moment – here was a career that could combine my previous experience with a love of creative writing.

Consequently, I undertook  professional celebrancy training in Funerals and Weddings and am now in a position to offer help to families during the most difficult or happiest times of their lives.
